Reflexology Foot Chart
Reflexology is very relaxing and can help alleviate many ailments such as migraine, stress, infertility, IBS, skin conditions, depression, thyroid problems, hormone imbalance and much more.

Treatments last approx. 50 minutes.

History
Reflexology dates back thousands of years. It was first used by the Indians, Egyptians and Chinese people.

In 1913, Dr William Fitzgerald, an ear, nose and throat surgeon introduced this therapy to the west. He divided the whole body into 10 zones that were equal & vertical, ending in the fingers and toes. By applying pressure on one part of a zone could affect everything else in that zone. Therefore by applying pressure over the 10 zones in the feet, we are actually working the whole body. In the 1930's a therapist Eunice Ingham, developed zone therapy into foot reflexology, she found that the feet mirror the body exactly. This is how we use reflexology today.

How can reflexology help you?
The body has the ability to heal itself. If we have been suffering from an illness, stress or injury, the body will be suffering from an imbalance - the energy will not be flowing freely through the body, preventing the body from functioning efficiently. By using reflexology we can encourage the energy to move more freely through the body thus helping obtain its natural equilibrium & encourage healing.

Who can benefit from reflexology?
Since reflexology treats the whole person, not the symptoms of disease, most people benefit from treatment. The therapy brings relief to a wide range of acute & chronic conditions. Once your body is in tune, it is wise to have regular treatments in order to help maintain health & well being.

Reflexology and Children
Reflexology is also excellent for babies, toddlers, young children and teenagers for the treatment of ailments including constipation, eczema, stress and acne.

Obviously, the older the child, the easier treatments are to perform. However, reflexology can be beneficial to boisterous toddlers, coupled with some light massage techniques. These are only performed for a short time or as long as the baby/toddler is happy. Some of the techniques can be demonstrated to parents/carers for home use.

Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT)
VRT is practiced on the feet in a standing weight bearing position. It is performed at the beginning and /or end of a treatment. The body responds quicker to VRT than conventional reflexology and some reactions may be instant. This treatment is relatively new compared to conventional reflexology and was discovered in the 1990's. It has been proven to be very good for orthopaedic conditions.

Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage Massage (RLDM)
RLDM is performed following reflexology treatment on the foot. It helps to remove toxins and impurities from the body and supports the integrity of the lymphatic system. It is useful for conditions such as oedema and is excellent for pregnant women.
